One of the good things about running a business is that I get to choose how I run it. My intention is to run it along lines which meet my values and my ethics. Part of that is that I don’t work 70 hours a week. That I deal with others honestly and fairly. And another part of that is about giving.
I have committed to providing scholarships to two girls each year to attend university. I give 10% of the fee paid by my coaching clients to a charity supporting a school in Damat, India. The charity supports the school and also provides scholarships to girls wanting to attend university.
For the majority the only hope of employment is as a casual daily labourer for local landowners, where wages can be as little as £10 a month. Education will help to improve the lives of children and families in the region.
So, as you change and move forward you are helping someone less fortunate to do the same.
The school is founded and run by a local businessman. It costs as little as £25 a year to educate an Indian child in this school. Both girls and boys are taught. And both are taught in English as this will increase their job prospects when they leave.
